Wintech modular were commissioned by the environment agency to come up with a unique high quality modular building that can be used as a workshop and an office building. The building that we constructed for the environmental agency is 16m x 12m and consisted of 8 modules split into modular workshops and office space. Most of the prefabrication of the building was done in our factory in Harworth just south of Doncaster and shipped to site in Sunbury on Thames for final assembly.
Special Features of this Modular Building
During the design and build process we had a particular brief that we had not dealt with before and that was this building had to be flood resilient. That in itself posed design and construction challenges. In the case of a flood the building is able to be flooded and still be usable after the flood water has subsided and a clean-up has taken place. Of course there are some parts of the building that are sacrificial in nature such as the carpets and other decorative items. This building will be usable after a flood with minimal damage sustained and will be structurally sound.
Being the environment agency it wouldn’t be right to commission a building without requesting some environmentally sustainable features
